When I clean, I first use a hair dryer, placed on the hot / cold to remove excess dust. To remove the dust that remains, I brush gently, starting at the top and working my way to the shade with a soft brush ... I use one that is supposedly used to brush hair with a baby because they are extremely soft. This worked well for me.

I usually use a tiny brush or a brush small car in detail. It works very well.
