AUSTRALIA's most notorious offenders child sex, Mr. Cruel, kept secret videotapes of his victims as trophies of his crimes, police revealed before the 15th anniversary of his last known attack.

Detectives believe the serial sexual predator set up a video camera in the house where he took his victims so he can later revive his attacks.

He removed Karmein Chan, 13, of the family home in Templestowe April 13, 1991. His body was found April 9, 1992, at Edgars Creek, Thomastown. She had been shot.

Mr Cruel, who is suspected of attacking at least four girls after breaking into their homes between 1987 and 1991, has never been identified.

A young girl was attacked inside his house and two were kidnapped and then released, while the last Karmein Chan, was kidnapped and murdered.

One of his victims told police she saw a tripod and a camera set up at the end of the bed where she was held captive after his abduction. She did not know if it was a fixed or video camera.

Police checked about 30,000 houses looking for the one where he kept his victims and probably the film.

Investigators have kept secret the information that Mr. Cruel filmed his victims in the hope that when he was identified, they would also find the proof. But after 15 years, they have agreed to release the initiative last known address in the hope of a breakthrough late.

Detectives believe he is still alive, he has kept the tapes and photos and still collect, and possibly exchange child pornography. They say it is almost certainly continues to collect pornography via the Internet and can communicate with children using chat lines.

An FBI profile of the author serial said: "He will have his homemade pornography and pornography business. He has photographed and filmed his victims or sexual assault. These elements have a great personal meaning for him. "

Detectives from the Task Force, Mr Cruel, codename of the spectrum, has discovered a list of about 150 men who subscribe to child pornography by mail, including some eminent personalities. All were asked about the kidnapping.

Shortly before releasing a victim, he carefully cleaned the bathroom, then lay a sheet on the floor covered with linoleum to avoid leaving fingerprints. In one case, it took a second set of clothes from the house of the girl at her toilet before it is released. In another, he dumped the girl in garbage bags, the police were testing his clothing home.
